The color scheme was inspired by hues in the featured artwork. Due to the volume of deliverables, several rounds of internal edits preceded client revision; communication became essential during this second stage, as one project would be at a different stage than another. This client was very clear on how to achieve their vision, and it was a good learning experience. Staggered deadlines helped with time management. In balancing revision and vision, I found a new and lasting confidence in client interaction.

Background.
“Holding Space” addressed the events of the Tulsa Race Massacre using vibrant, abstracted paintings. With artwork by Tai Tindall and Dawn Tree, this joint exhibition implemented bright color in remembrance of tragedy. Because of this, I found myself balancing these elements in the design.

While drawing inspiration from the color palettes of the artworks, this set of deliverables was difficult because it also needed to set a tone appropriate to its focus. Again, client direction was very hands-on, and I had the opportunity to hone communication in a direct but warm manner.
