Background.

The client, Sarah Ahmad, is an artist who’s held gallery showings and artist seminars from Dubai to Tulsa. In her exhibition “The American Dream,” themes of societal violence took center stage. The installation built upon the Tulsa Race Massacre, as well as the nature’s healing environment. She was looking for design work that both showcased these messages and promoted the exhibit.

Inspiration and Process.

The digital artwork had such a dynamic silhouette that spoke volumes on its own. It needed to take center stage, but depth was added to keep the poster and card from appearing flat.

Result.

Ultimately, the client took another direction with this project; she was concerned that the graphic element did not encompass enough of the exhibit’s content. It was an outdoor installation, with motifs of marigolds and a refugee tent. Although this route was not in line with the client’s vision, the designs rely on compelling imagery and vibrant color.
